We are an ONGD. We cooperate with projects that support women and seagrass meadows in Portuguese-speaking African countries (PALOP communities).
We develop recommendations to support maintenance plans and political decisions that recognise the value of blue carbon ecosystems and promote their restoration.
A program with a positive impact: cleaning the estuary, changing behaviours and listening to fisherwomen’s stories; these activities help raise awareness for the issue of marine litter among the Sado Estuary’s fishing community, whilst promoting social innovation and the value of local ecosystems.
Mapping and monitoring the seagrass meadows of the Sado Estuary, together with fisherwomen, the scientific community and Ocean Alive Camp’s students.
Raising awareness among razor clams harvesters to avoid leaving plastic salt containers in the estuary. Awareness actions are led by by women in the fishing community together with beach cleaning actions carried out by volunteers.
Ocean Alive Camp aims to empower young people to become ambassadors for the protection of ocean ecosystems. This summer school is embedded in an award-winning local sustainability project, Keepers of the Sea. Participants explore Sado Estuary’s protected marine areas, guided by our team with passion and scientific expertise.
